Pierce Swimmer Jhan Lonninia Sets School Record at State Championships
L.A. Pierce College swimmer Jhan Lonninia made waves at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships, turning in a series of elite performances highlighted by a school-record swim in the grueling 1650-yard freestyle.
Lonninia, a freshman, clocked a time of 16:39.96 in the 1650-yard freestyle, setting a new benchmark for the Pierce swim program and solidifying his place among the top distance swimmers in the state. His performance not only shattered the previous school record but also showcased the work ethic and endurance that defined his breakout season.
In addition to the record-setting swim, Lonninia competed in two other demanding events:
