Pierce Men Finish 5th, Women 7th at WSC Meet #2; Loninia Highlights with Record Swim
The Los Angeles Pierce College swim and dive teams wrapped up competition at the Western State Conference Championships with strong performances on both sides, as the Brahmas men placed 5th overall while the women finished 7th.
Leading the way for Pierce was Jhan Loninia, who delivered one of the standout performances of the meet. Loninia posted a time of 57.86 in the 100-yard individual medley, setting a new program record and continuing an impressive showing across multiple events.
Loninia also claimed first-place finishes in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.37) and 500-yard freestyle (4:58.06), earning valuable points for the Brahmas and establishing himself as one of the top performers at the conference meet.
As a team, the Pierce men totaled 250.5 points, with contributions across the board helping secure a top-five finish. Matteo Podesta added depth with multiple top-six finishes in the freestyle events, while Andre Khachatryan contributed in both breaststroke and IM races. Ryan Lozano and Nicholas Bush also picked up key points in their respective events, helping round out a balanced team effort.
On the women's side, Pierce battled throughout the meet to secure a 7th-place finish, continuing to build momentum as the program develops within conference competition.
Overall, Pierce recorded 38 total entries at the meet, with several personal-best performances highlighting the weekend. The Brahmas' effort reflects a season of growth, depth, and continued progress against strong conference competition.
With the conference championships complete, Pierce will look to carry this momentum forward as the program continues to build toward future success.
