Brahmas Close Out Historic Swim Season at 3C2A State Championships
The LA Pierce College swim team wrapped up its 2026 season at the 3C2A State Championships, highlighted by another strong showing from sophomore standout Jhan Loninia.
Competing against many of the top community college swimmers in California, Loninia helped lead the Brahmas to a 29th-place team finish while adding to an already decorated Pierce career.
Loninia competed in three events at the state meet, posting a 14th-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:01.94. He also placed 19th in the 400-yard IM at 4:22.11 and 25th in the 500-yard freestyle at 4:55.15. His performance earned Pierce three team points at the championship meet.
The sophomore closes out one of the most accomplished careers in recent Brahma swim history. During his time at Pierce, Loninia captured six Western State Conference championship medals, qualified for the state championships three times, and earned two All-American honors. He also shared the school's most individual records with former standout Mario Marshall.
Loninia leaves Pierce holding program records in:
- 500 Freestyle — 4:46.86
- 1000 Freestyle — 10:06.23
- 1650 Freestyle — 16:39.96
- 100 IM — 56.18
His consistency and versatility in distance freestyle and IM events helped anchor the Brahmas throughout the season and capped off another competitive year for the Pierce swim program.
