Pierce College women's soccer continued their strong run in conference play, earning a 1–0 home victory over Cuesta College to remain undefeated in Western State Conference action.
The Brahmas controlled possession for much of the match, creating several scoring chances and keeping constant pressure on the Cougars' defense. Despite multiple close calls, Pierce couldn't break through until the very end.
In the final moments of the match, the Brahmas were awarded a penalty kick after a foul inside the box.
Sophomore Melissa Nevarez stepped up confidently and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner with the last kick of the game, sealing the dramatic win for Pierce.
With the result, the Brahmas improve to 4-0-3 in conference play, continuing their unbeaten streak and maintaining a strong position near the top of the Western State Conference standings.
Pierce will look to carry that momentum on the road when they travel to Allan Hancock College this Friday for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
